Nehrim Launcher won't start!

I've been playing Oblivion with plenty of mods for quite a while and figured I'd try out Nehrim, as it looks quite impressive.
I downloaded the installer .exe, installed the latest English Nehrim files off of ModDB to my c:\Games folder and applied the latest English Nehrim patch, but whenever i click on the NehrimLauncher.exe it always shows a "Nehrim Launcher has stopped working" message for a split second and then closes. I tried running it in compatibility mode but that hasn't worked either.
I know Nehrim is now an old project and Oblivion isn't too relevant anymore, but i would really appreciate some help.
I have retail copy of Oblivion GOTY on Windows 8
