First off what is this even about :P

Well in the german part of the forum we have more threads -> information concerning Enderal and as most people in this part here can't read german I decided to do something similar to a thread in the german part named "Informationssammlung Enderal" (much thanks to the user Rothinsky who did this there :D ) Basically this is a list of information concerning Enderal so that people new to this forum/Enderal can simply read through this to know almost everything about it without having to read through 10 or more threads only to discover that their question/s wasn't/weren't answered there

I'll try to keep it up to date as much as I can, but I will try to only post facts - not rumours or guesses (sole exception is the release date as SureAI won't post one until they can hold it 100%).

EDIT: Just a little reminder, I am not from SureAI. This means that certain points in here can be different in the actual game as the information is sometimes even from years ago.

1. General things about Enderal

1.1 What is Enderal?

Enderal is a Total Conversion (TC) for TES:Skyrim in development by the team of SureAI, the same team which did TCs and mods for other Bethesda games, such as Nehrim: At Fate's Edge for Oblivion or Arktwend: The Forgotten Realm and Myar Aranath: Relic of Kallidar for Morrowind.

The devs of SureAI once said that they aim for Enderal to be a story for adults - often dirty and harsh, yet nice and forgiving at other times. Something like pornobabes or the muscle-brained warrior won't exist in it.

A TC is basically a new game based on the engine of another game; in Enderal's case the Skyrim/Creation engine was used to make a new RPG with its own land, story, NPCs and quests. Unlike other TCs though it will keep the general playing style of Skyrim but change certain things which will be explained further down.

1.2 When will it be released?

In general: When it's done :P
The trailer for Enderal announces 2015 as release date while the exact month or day remain to be seen.

Lord Dagon said that the expected release period is from November 2015 till February 2016. The exact date is mainly influenced by how many bugs the current alpha test yields.

1.3 Hardware recommendations?

Minimum requirements:
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E7400
RAM: 3,5 GB (32x OS) or 4 GB (64x OS)
Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX 1GB or GeForceGTS 250
HDD Space: 13GB
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim installed correctly on your system (No DLCs required)

Recommended requirements:
CPU: Intel Core I7-920
RAM: 6 GB
Video Card: GeForce GTX 560Ti or GeForce GTX 660Ti (With AA)
HDD Space: 13GB
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim installed correctly on your system (No DLCs required)

1.4 Localisation?

There are 3 versions being done for Enderal:
1. Entirely in German with german voice over
2. Entirely in English with english voice over

1.5 What software to you need to play?

Just Skyrim + the newest official patch. Be warned though that SureAI doesn't support steamless/cracked versions of Skyrim.

1.6 Mods in Enderal?

In general Skyrim mods don't work in Enderal but there is one exception. The rule of thumb is: all mods which need the Skyrim.esm to work won't work in Enderal as it has its own .esm file.

On the other hand this means that all mods which don't use the Skyrim.esm will most likely work; these mods often are texture replacers.

As for the other mods, many of them can be tweaked to work in Enderal, often even by just changing the Skyrim references to Enderal ones - if you want any mod to be playable in Enderal you should ask the auther of the mod to tweak it

1.7 Where to get it once it is released?

Enderal will be hosted here on sureai.net just like SureAI's other mods, most likely they will also release it on Skyrim Nexus.
But it won't be hosted in the Steam Workshop or elsewhere in Steam as this would either run into technical or legal issues.

1.8 Addons/content patches for Enderal

Enderal most likely won't get an addon like Nehrim did, for some reasons:
Enderal will have way more content than Nehrim had when it was released, that means e. g. more sidequests. Though the bigger reason is that SureAI swiftly want to start with their first commercial project after Enderal is released.

This project will be smaller than Enderal or Nehrim, though still "big" according to Lord Dagon.

But worry not before they start with their new project the bugfixing for Enderal comes in first place and if there is some time they will release further content (like 1 or 2 new sidequests or a new dungeon) with these bug fixing patches ;-)

2. The landscape of Enderal

2.1 How big will the landscape be?

The landscape will have ~3/4 the same size as Skyrim's. Also each tree, stone, mountain, etc. is hand placed and not generated.

2.2 How open will the landscape be?

There won't be as many plains as in Skyrim, the fields or forests are often winded to make exploring more exciting as something new can just lay around the next corner

2.3 How many climate zones are there in Enderal?

There will be snow and ice sceneries just like in Skyrim - but it won't end there: Deserts, Mediterranean landscapes and even jungles are all part of Enderal. Each of these climate zones will have an appropiate size and will change into each other fluently.

Some of these zones are shown in the videos in the spoiler here:
[+]

2.4 Dungeons

There will be less dungeons than in Skyrim but to make this up each of them will be designed from scratch by hand - nothing is generated in them. Also all dungeons will have some sort of reward at the end, that may be a new strong weapon, part of an armour or a blueprint for crafting (more to that later ;-))

2.5 Main city Ark

Enderal will only have one major city which is called Ark. This city is divided into 3 parts: The upper city where the normal and rich people live, the Undercity in a giant cavern where the poor and sick live and lastly the Forbidden City, which is directly underneath Undercity and as the name says the entry to it is forbidden. In its size it will be massive and far bigger than Skyrim cities to make it more realistic.

For the Nehrim fans: the city will have twice the size of Erothin as the upper city alone is as big as Erothin and the Undercity is just as big.

A sneak peek for the Undercity is in the video in the spoiler:
[+]

3. Other information about Enderal

3.1 Fast traveling, yes or no?

The fast travel system of Skyrim will be deactivated in Enderal.
Instead SureAI has implemented 2 new ways to fast travel: You can either go by a teleport spell system or fly to a fixed travel point with a Myrad.

A myrad is a wild flying creature in Enderal and the whole system works similar to the Silt Striders in Morrowind - you go to a landing/starting place of a myrad and its tamer and then can fly to any other starting/landing place in Enderal.

Recently one of the devs even said that they managed to animate those flights - that means when you use a myrad you won't get a loading screen to your destination but instead you can see the flight in real time. (currently it seems that they had to take the real time flight animation out, as it caused some heavy bugs but they are trying to fix it after Enderal is released)

3.2 Graphical changes to Vanilla Skyrim

First and foremost: Enderal won't use an ENB. The team in the past even tried to use an ENB and they even got the permission to put it in their mod from the very beginning but however they changed the ENB settings it looked worse than without.

One of the reasons for this is this:In Enderal the devs use light sources very different from how Bethesda did with Skyrim, because of that the ENBs destroys the atmosphere of the dungeons and the overworld.

This btw doesn't mean that you can't use ENB at all - ENB is fully compatible with Enderal - but that there will be no preset with release and that the Skyrim presets will make the game look completely different from how it is intended. BUT maybe some users will manage to do a good preset for Enderal after release so don't give up all hope :P

As for other changes, Enderal will have High-Res Textures from release on ;-)
High-Res btw doesn't mean all textures are 4k, most will be 1k or 2k but the quality of the actual texture will be higher compared to the original High-Res pack from Bethesda.
Reason being that currently runs at the very limit of stable and if they would use only 4k textures Enderal becomes labile and crashes often.

Also the saturation of the colors ingame will be higher to make it more colorful. This last point is unfortunately really hard to see in the Youtube Videos, as for some reason it eats the saturation while it compresses the videos so you should stick to screenshots as those portray that better :D

3.3 Playable Races

There will be 4 playable races: The half Aeterna, the half Kiléne, the half Qyraner and the half Arazealer.

Aeterna are an ancient elf-like race and very proficient in magic. As they are guaranteed to be able to use magic (unlike humans who have only a very small chance to have the inborn talent for magic) they are either shunned or deified by the general population.

Kiléne are a human race that originate from the "Belt of Kilé" (a belt of "small" isles) and are exceptionelly gifted businessmen.

Qyraner come from the isle of Qyra, a continent regarded as being barren. They live in so called "circles" in which multiple men and women live together to mutually raise their children. They are seen as being passionate and belligerent but can look back onto a culture rich on knowledge, mysticism and art.

Arazealer are a "wild" and normadic human race that live in tribal-like social structures. They originate from the namesake isle and are often looked down upon for their savage lifestyle. Also because of their high natural strength they often work as mercenaries.

3.4 Crafting system in Enderal

Crafting works in Enderal a bit different than in Skyrim. In Enderal you don't have perks to unlock for crafting new things but instead you need to find or buy so called blueprints. After you found one you can craft it if you smithing skill is high enough without any other restrictions.

3.5 Level and talent system in Enderal

This is where Enderal has the biggest changes to Skyrim, hence I put each of those in their own part.

3.5.1 Level System

The level system itself becomes exp-based like in "older" RPGs as Gothic e. g. This has the advantage that you can reward the player easier for completing quests, exploring, killing enemies or reading/hearing much about the world of Enderal.

Each level up needs a certain amount of exp points and the needed amount obviously goes up with each level. Once you level up you gain 5 skill points, 1 memory point, some crafting points and just like in Skyrim the choice to raise your health, mana or stamina.

The skill points then can be used together with a skill trainer to raise your skills like for example One Handed Weapons. Unlike Skyrim you WON'T raise your skills by using them but instead only by using skill points.

To make this system more comfortable you can also buy skill books from trainers. You then can read those books anywhere to raise the corresponding skill just as if you would have gone to a teacher.

The memory point is important for the next part and crafting points are explained in the 3rd part. ;-)

3.5.2 Talent System

In Enderal there are 3 classes: Warrior, Mage and Rogue. Each class has its own 3 skill trees called disciplines. The warrior ones are dervish, bastion and rage, the mages have elementarism, thaumaturgy and sinistra and the rogue has espionage, vagabond and trickery.

With every level up you get 1 memory point which you can invest in the skill trees in the same manners as in the perks in Skyrim. That means that you can also mix up the 3 classes however you like but at the same time the memory points are quite limited (the level ups to be more precise ;-)).

SureAi said that at most you can max out 3 disciplines and that only if you really take some time adventuring as you can get memory points also from some rare items.

There are skills in the disciplines which have more than one stage, in that case you can either go further up with your memory points or invest them in the same skill again, just like with the perks in Skyrim. BUT every each discipline also has a talent at a certain point at the skill tree and one more at the end of it, so there are 18 talents in Enderal.

These talents replace the dragon shouts of Skyrim and once you learn them you can use them just like in Skyrim and they have a cooldown.

So far so good; but SureAI went a step ahead: Certain talents generate synergies when they are used together. Some of those are obvious, others require a bit of thinking and trial and error ;-)

Obvious is e. g. the synergy between the talents "Shadow Tongue Oil" (which generates a pool of slippery oil on which enemies slip and fall) and "fire arrow". You shoot at the oil with the fire arrow and just like in Skyrim the oil starts to burn.

The not-so-obvious synergies often come from magic pairs, e. g. in the sinistra skill tree you have the talent "Entropic Blood" with which you can "make" a so called entropic slave. If you then use the lightning/elementarism talent called "Sky Fall" on it, it raises the damage of the slave. Soon thereafter the slave explodes and deals further dmg to all enemies around him.

Once you spent around 7 memory points in the talent system your classes are determined by the skill trees in which you have spent the most points (so e. g. if you have spent 7 points, 4 into Rage and 3 into Espionage the classes in your char screen are Rage and Espionage)

The important news in this is that certain tree combinations converge into a new class (with a new skill tree) after you spent at least 10 points in both of them.

An example of this system would be the Assassin class which you unlock once you spent 10 points in both Trickery and Espionage.

To find these combinations you will have to search the world for books and notes which explain them ;-)

In the spoiler you will find the first devblog which also explains the whole talent system ingame:
[+]
3.5.3 Crafting points

With each level-up you will get 3 crafting points on top of the 5 skill points. These crafting points are used exclusively for skilling smithing, speechcraft and enchanting - this was done to make especially speechcraft matter more in the game as many Skyrim players found it wasteful to use perk points on this skill.

Also a high level in Speechcraft unlocks new dialogue options, with various benefits for the player.

3.6 Monster/NPC level scaling?

Monster or enemies in general do NOT scale with the player.

Instead the world will be divided in level zones. In these zones the monsters will have a fixed level and for those who played Nehrim the system works the same - that means the moment you enter one of those zones you get a notification of this zone, e. g. Level 1-10 somewhere on the screen.
This means that all enemies in this zone will have a level between 1 and 10 so your level should be appropiate or you will die easily.

There is one exception to this rule: to make boss fights more challenging than they were in Nehrim, especially for high level chars, some will do percental damage. This means that these bosses will do e. g. 10 % damage of your life total regardless of how much health you have. But this system only works for the damage, not for the health of those bosses so that it doesn't become too hard.

3.7 Player houses?

There will be multiple houses to buy in Enderal, also the devs once said you can get a mansion but no castle like in Nehrim.
As they said in their second dev blog the housing system got changed for Enderal. You can now buy or craft furniture and place everything yourself, from tables to your bed in your house ;-)

For more detailed information you should watch the video in the spoiler (it also explains the crafting system once more):
[+]

3.8 Guilds and Factions?

There will be no Skyrim-like guilds in Enderal as far as the devs said, but there will be multiple factions.

One of those will be for example the "Black Scale" or a merchant faction/guild.

There also will be quests you can do for those organisations but whether you can actually join them or not still remains to be seen.

3.9 Companions/Romances?

There will be 2 companions you will meet and solve parts of the main quest with. One male and one female to enable a possible romance later.

BUT these companions will only stick to you for the main quest and they will have their own personalities and morale.

That means they are not puppets like the followers in Skyrim and how you choose to solve quests directly interferes how they see you. To make this possible Enderal has a sympathy system like the Bioware games have but unlike those there is no way to see how the choice will affect the companion.
You will have to learn about his/her character if you want to have a romance with her/him and a friendship with the other one :dumb:

It was also revealed that both of them have a questline with 6 quests each. This questline is used to deepen the bond between you and them and to learn about their past.

3.10 Functionality of potions in Enderal

Potions are a bit different from Skyrim as they regenerate health, stamina and mana over time instead of instantly and to prevent potion spamming there will be some new system in Enderal.

This system is called "arcanic fever" and is explained in the next point.

3.11 Arcanic Fever

The arcanic fever is a completely new system, which even got its own attribute in the character screen, to hinder potion and spell spamming, while at the same time being important during exploration.

Whenever you cast a healing spell or use a health potion this fever will rise - once high enough it can kill you very fast.

On top of that there are certain places in Enderal which have an unnatural amount of magic in the air (visible by a blue radiance). While you are near these places your arcanic fever will also rise over time.

The only way to lower the fewer is through using Ambrosia, which in turn is very expensive.

3.12 AI of enemies

The trigger range of the AI is a bit smaller in Enderal than in Skyrim, that means that enemies will naturally detect you later than in Skyrim - that means it plays a bit more defensive. Other than that there is unfortunately not much they can change as most of the AI is hardcoded and not changeable without many scripts.

3.13 Realism (like what Frostfall adds to Skyrim)

There won't be Frostfall or Realistic Needs in Enderal as the game should be challenging but not too hard, but you will still need to drink and eat or sleep from time to time. Reason being that without doing those the regeneration of mana and health is stopped which especially in the beginning or bigger dungeons is deadly. To compensate for that food and drinks will have more positive effects than in Skyrim and just like in Frostfall you can take a small camp with you everywhere.

3.14 User Interface in comparison to Vanilla Skyrim

There will be SkyUI in Enderal, but its look will be overhauled to make it more immersive for Enderal and to make room for some new menus.

3.15 Choices during gameplay/multiple endings?

There will by multiple choices you have to take throughout the main story of Enderal and there will be 2 endings. Unfortunately most of the choices only affect how this quest or the next quest/line of quests plays out - which ending you will get is chosen near the ending and isn't affected by your other choices. SureAI would want to make the choices in Enderal matter more in reference to the ending but they have neither the time nor the amount of people in their team to make this possible.

Still the choices will be meaningful and not like in Bioware "paragon" or "renegade" but instead often grey in tone and form.

3.16 Quest markers?

There will be quest markers in Enderal but they won't point to each and every objective, instead often only the general region where to find what you search to make "dungeoneering" a bit more meaningful.

The most accurate quest markers will point on persons in cities or villages as the devs said because it would be really hard to find them otherwise with their daily routines in Enderal

3.17 Tutorial?

Yes, Enderal will include a tutorial for the controls and the new gameplay elements. SureAI did this to make it easier for players who haven't played Skyrim for years or even bought it just for Enderal.

4. Enderal in comparison to Nehrim

4.1 Will I need to play through Nehrim to understand Enderal?

Nope, those who played Nehrim will find here and there references to it in Enderal but everything important to the storyline will explained once more in Enderal.

4.2 How much time has gone by between the end of Nehrim and the beginning of Enderal?

Just some years - if my memory servers me right it should be only 2,5 years. This is also the reason why the next point is possible.

4.3 Will I meet characters of Nehrim again?

Yeah you will meet some characters again - who they are isn't announced by the team till now

4.4 Bank?

Also yeah, there will be once again a bank in Enderal and once more you can store money in it to get interest.

4.5 Landscape in comparison to Nehrim

If you have played Nehrim you surely still remember Ostian and Cahbaet, one the Southern realm of Nehrim, the other the main city of the Northern realm.
In Nehrim you could access both only after you advanced far enough in the main quest.

In Enderal the devs want to avoid situations like Ostian, so that entire parts of the landmass are not explorable until you come far enough in the main story.
Unfortunetaly cases like Cahbaet are not avoidable from a story telling standing point, hence there will be certain dungeons or even towns/villages you can only access after you cleared the main quest far enough.

4.6 Perfomance in comparison to Nehrim

For some people the most important point  : You can be relieved, Enderal will have a better performance than Nehrim, because the devs optimize the game way more than they did for Nehrim.

5. Videos, Soundtracks and Screenshots of Enderal

I will spoiler each sub-category to avoid stretching the page too much :D

This part will show off all so far known soundtracks of Enderal. These tracks are all original and done by the composers of the SureAI team, Marvin Kopp, Simon W. Autenrieth and Frank Holomay plus Nico (often uses the nick latiro) and some other composers. Frank Holomay is the composer for the bard songs, unfortunately there is only 1 uploaded till now and it is in german.

Also Marvin confirmed that they will upload the whole soundtrack free to download once Enderal is released.

Unlike the videos not all of these are uploaded on Youtube but on Soundcloud so I can only link to them and I left the german names for those which have no official english name yet.

FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for this summary (and thanks to the person who did it in the German forum). It's great to see all this together. I do have one question about:
3.5.3 Other perks from Skyrim

While the talent system replaces the perks from Skyrim, there are still some perks which aren't included in this system, for example the smithing skill.
These skills can be learned from certain persons while playing the game and not from the disciplines.
How is this different from the "trainers" ? Are these perks available for training without requiring the skill points needed for the other types of training?

In hindsight I formulated this part a bit weirdly. What I meant was that unlike most of the other skills in Skyrim the smithing skill loses all its perks and instead becomes purely skill based. Many of the older perks reappear in the new talent system but they are better balanced and condensed into less "perks"/talents than in Skyrim.

Btw just now there will be also a little update here concerning future addons for Enderal

Some time has passed and now there is the first real update for this Q&A :D

First off the bad news - the release for Enderal seems to have suffered from a setback: Nico said in an interview that they doubt that they can release it in the 2. quarter of 2015 and now calls mid summer till beginning of fall as the most likely release period.

2. I changed some other minor parts but nothing really interesting for those who already read it before ;-)

And last but not least the real update: I added a media section to this Q&A with videos and soundtracks for Enderal (screenshots will follow in due time) - maybe there is something you haven't seen or heared yet

If you know any video or soundtrack, which I didn't post pls tell me here so I can add it ^^ (for videos it is ofc important that it is either in english or has english subtitles)

And another update :D

This time I finally added the screenshots to the last part and once more, if you know any more screenshots pls tell so I can add them.
(I also took screenshots from some german sources so there could be some new ones even for Enderal veterans :) )

I also included the crafting points, which are the new way to skill smithing and speechcraft.

Last but not least another new information is that SureAI added a tutorial to the game for explaining the controls and the new gameplay elements.

After quite some time the next update comes rolling in.

First off the negative thing:

The real time animated flight feature had to be removed for the time being as it caused too many bugs - after Enderal is released they want to review it and if possible patch it back into the game bugfree.

Next a clarification: Concerning the textures in Enderal there was a little debate in the german forum about how high the resolution of those should be - Lord Dagon and Nicolas both said that there were will be only a few 4k textures and the most will in the 1-2k range for stability reasons.
Currently Enderal is at the limit where it runs stable, any more workload to the RAM can lead to a massive increase in the amount of crashes so they try their best to balance quality vs. performance.
After I asked about it Nico said that the statue of Malphas in Ark would be one of the few 4k textures; while most others are quite a bit lower the actual quality of the textures is as high as possible.

There are also some news concerning the anti-potion spamming mechanic: Its name is "arcanic fever"; I explained how it works in 3.10 Functionality of potions in Enderal

Last but not least I added some of the new screenshots to the post and all new songs for the soundtrack of Enderal which are these:

Will the flight thing still be there but without animations?

Yap, but we will only get a mounting animation and a short ingame starting scene followed by a loading screen.

2 months after my last post comes the new update :D

1.Another mixed announcement: The release period for the german version got changed to in between November and February. When exactly it will be released depends heavily on how many bugs the current alpha test discovers.

2. I added descriptions to the 4 playable races:

3. The arcanic fever now has its own subcatergory:

3.11 Arcanic Fever

The arcanic fever is a completely new system, which even got its own attribute in the character screen, to hinder potion and spell spamming, while at the same time being important during exploration.

Whenever you cast a spell or use a potion this fever will rise - once high enough it can kill you very fast.

On top of that there are certain places in Enderal which have an unnatural amount of magic in the air (visible by a blue radiance). While you are near these places your arcanic fever will also rise over time.

4. Last but not least I added the last song of Andreas Makusev for Enderal to the "Soundtrack" category called Sunborn.

Many thanks for keeping the news going here in the english side.

Well I know I'm playing as a Arazealer, whatever one of them looks like. Just a real shame about the delay, I'd seen rumours that it had been put back and this confirms it.

Still it does mean that I don't have the problem of Fallout 4 and Enderal coming out around the same time ;-)
